WHO WE ARE:
The Rishinkan Dojo is a branch school (shibu) of both the Sekai Dentokan Bugei
Renmei and the All Japan Budo Federation-Nippon Seibukan Dojo in Kyoto,
Japan.
The Dentokan organization was founded by Col. Roy Jerry Hobbs (USAF ret.), a
master of several Japanese and Okinawan martial arts who spent much of his
training time in Okinawa and Japan learning from the top representatives and
founders of these traditional arts. We offer instruction in the following Dentokan
martial arts:
- Aikijujutsu or Jujutsu, is the Japanese art of self-protection, descended
from the empty-hand combat methods of the samurai. It is a sophisticated
and traditional art that employs various joint locks, throws, strikes, methods
of restraint, and pressure point attacks to humanely control an aggressor.
- Iaijutsu is a form of traditional Japanese swordsmanship that focuses on
drawing and cutting with the samurai sword. It is an austere cultural art,
preserved from feudal times, and well suited to a detail oriented,
philosophical student with a deep interest in Japanese culture.
